If there’s one thing we love more than anything else at Pedaal, it’s our cherished customers. Great coffee makes a close second. So when one of our lovely regulars raved to us about this new (to us) superb Canadian coffee roastery, we knew we had to check them out!

Down the Rabbit Hole
Enter: Rabbit Hole Roasters. Located in Montreal, this dynamic coffee company centers curiosity and accountability in their approach to their product. Self describing as “a team that likes to think, experiment, and question the defaults,” Rabbit Hole is tuned in equally to the tasks of providing delicious, quality coffee to their customers as well as ensuring that every step of that process considers the sourcing, relationships, equity, pricing, and sustainability tactics needed to do so with responsibility. Redistributing the power in the coffee industry is at the forefront of their mission. Sign us up!

And if their dedication to their ethics wasn’t enough of a reason for us to bring them in, we also learned that Rabbit Hole is absolutely KILLING the game when it comes to roasting itself. In fact, they were named Roast Magazine’s Micro Roaster of the Year in 2023 – a fiercely competitive award competed for each year by top roasters from all over the world. Their relationship-first approach, commitment to their sustainability strategies, and delicately sweet beans won them the official 2023 title and has kept their quality top-notch ever since.
Wild Contenders
This particular collection of beans we’ve sourced from Rabbit Hole also happens to have some wild contenders! If you’re like us – a lover of fun, wacky, and unique coffees that make you tilt your head to the side and go “Huh!” – you’ll adore what we’ve just got in stock. We’re most excited about the Guiben Honey beans from China and ‘The Lady’ beans from Myanmar! Here’s a little spotlight on these goodies:

China
While perhaps not necessarily the country you first think of when you hear “coffee production,” the Chinese coffee industry has been growing rapidly over the past decade or so, becoming ever-more salient. Typical notes of Chinese beans tend to be cream, chocolate, and light fruits – the one we’ve got in has notes of pear, pine nut, cane sugar, and oolong. Honey process has also become an increasingly popular processing method there, creating sweeter beans with a rich, full body. Rabbit Hole’s Guiben Honey is sure to be a hit – we can’t wait for you to try it!
Myanmar
The second star of this collection has to be The Lady – Honey variety. These beans are grown in Myanmar, another underdog in the coffee industry, whose coffee is known for its strong body and earthy qualities. Beans from Myanmar are most often washed, but The Lady is special – this particular bean is available from Rabbit Hole in the washed, natural, and honey process. We decided to bring in the honey process this time around as the tasting notes sounded just delectable: strawberry, nougat, pomelo, and cane sugar all in one cup. How can you go wrong with a bean this versatile and well-rounded?
While Supplies Last!
Rabbit Hole seems to have won our hearts with both their ethos and their execution. Their goals are simple: roast good coffee, treat people right, and use their platform for more than just selling bags. If you’re looking for a company that prioritizes people in its mission to make unbeatable coffee, look no further. Rabbit Hole has you covered. Come by Pedaal to pick up a bag of beans or to simply check them out – while supplies last!
