Traffic Coffee – Afrofunk #8

Bekele Yutute’s “Afro Funk #8” from Traffic Coffee is a high-elevation Sidama, Ethiopia coffee (2,300–2,350 masl) processed as a natural anaerobic, delivering a layered, fruit-driven cup with notes of boysenberry, honeydew melon, and white strawberry. Grown on Bekele’s small Denbi farm using the 74158 varietal, this lot reflects both meticulous cherry selection and careful, slow drying, resulting in a coffee that is sweet, floral, and slightly funky while still structured and clean. A reproduction of his 2024 Cup of Excellence–placing lot, it benefits from a bit of rest and rewards careful brewing with depth and clarity.
