Escape – Secret Sauce #6

Secret Sauce has always been rooted in a simple idea: when Ethiopian naturals are this good, you don’t need to overthink it. This year’s lot comes once again from Basha Bekele in Sidama, grown at an astonishing 2220–2240 MASL where slower maturation builds intense sweetness and clarity into the cup. Using a mix of 74110, 74112, and heirloom varieties, the profile lands exactly where great natural Ethiopians should: expressive, floral, and completely saturated with fruit.

In the cup, tropical syrup sweetness leads immediately, followed by soft white cake and a bright lift of sweet orange zest. The texture stays silky and full without losing definition, carrying all that fruit through a long, candy-like finish. Loud in the best way, and still somehow effortless.
